MAP/REVOLVE is pleased to present Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist Lucian Perkins and his documentary Saturday December 1st at 7PM. Perkins will be in attendance and will discuss and answer questions following the screening.

Lucian Perkins is a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist who spent most of his career as a staff photographer for The Washington Post, where he was, also, named “Newspaper Photographer of the Year” by the National Press Photographers Association and earned the coveted “World Press Photo of the Year.”
His Pulitzer Prizes were won during his tenure with The Washington Post for his work on poverty in the U.S. and the conflict in Kosovo. Over the years, he has focused on documenting social issues in the United States as well as conflicts and crises overseas. Lucian’s recent book, Hard Art, DC, captures the beginning of the Washington, D.C., punk music scene in 1979 while revealing its reverberating impact today. And in his other award-winning book Runway Madness, he delivers a ringside, tongue-in-cheek look at the New York fashion shows.
Since becoming an independent photographer and cinematographer, he has focused his work on the unsung heroes who help those in need and strive to make their communities better. He has produced several notable short documentaries tackling intimate partner violence, the Syrian refugee crisis, childhood obesity and the medical crisis in America, among others.
The Messengers is his first full-length documentary.
