ARTIST STATEMENT
This body of work focuses on portraiture, showcasing friends colleagues and family. The main purpose of this inquiry is to highlight the characteristics and features that contribute to the person's overall identity or personality. This can be represented by color, expression, physical traits, or the inclusion of personal pursuits. Throughout this research I challenged myself with the idea of representing one's identity based solely on physical characteristics, color, or background. The paintings were executed by exaggerating colors, purposely saturating the paint to further exhibit the overall sensation of expression and importance of the piece. Therefore, color has proven to be an element of high importance in my work. Upon completion of this series titled “Full Spectrum Faces”, I gained insight into my initial fascination with faces while learning about my models preferred identity and the various ways to portray it.
