Bill Direen

(Flying Nun records)

This performance will be a mixture of readings from Bill's poetry and fiction mixed with musical selections spanning his 40 year-plus career. Percussionist (Chris Davis) will accompany on selected songs.

Bill Direen was the principal force behind the New Zealand post-punk band The Builders. The Builders' 1983 LP Beatin' Hearts, was the first studio-recorded long player issued by the Flying Nun label.

Shane Parish

Guitarist Shane Parish is a singer/songwriter, virtuosic solo instrumentalist, and founder of the jazz rock band Ahleuchatistas. In recent years he has been a prolific interpreter of folkloric music, releasing a collection of songs on John Zorn’s Tzadik Records, and self releasing multiple volumes of instrumental folk song interpretations.
