Richard Brewster has built and played instruments designed for electronic sound for more than forty years. He is drawn to a composition method that uses analog hardware to create spontaneous, ever-changing sound without needing a human to play it. Each composition is made for a particular occasion and is unique and non-repeatable. The genuine experience of such compositions is during a live event, during which the composer and audience share in listening to a portion of the work, which has no beginning or ending. Richard has been an Asheville, NC, resident since 2013.
For Revolve Sound on June 14, 2019, Richard will present three of his compositions.
Ivan Seng has been playing piano since an early age. More recently, his interest in new sounds and musical structures has lead him into the realm of computer music. He has taught himself Supercollider, a programming language designed specifically for audio synthesis and live coding. Using Supercollider, he creates spatially complex, multilayered sound worlds that have a synesthetic quality for many listeners. Ivan is a native of Western North Carolina and has lived in Asheville on and off since the late 90s. Ivan will be presenting two of his computer compositions - Pulsations & Rebis. Elisa Faires will be performing vocals for Rebis.
