Max Jaffe (drummer for JOBS, Elder Ones, Chrome Sparks, many more) performs solo, utilizing a drumset outfitted with the Sensory Percussion system by Sunhouse. His recently released debut record, Giant Beat (Ramp Local), is a personal exploration of his relationship with dance music, jazz, and experimental rock. The result is a collage of ambient meditations, improvised percussion outbursts, and experimental dance music.
Max Jaffe is an idiosyncratic improviser who creates polyrhythmic and multi-textural electronic pieces that draw from a wide range of source materials as well as drumming traditions. In addition to co-founding art-rock collective JOBS and being an original member of Amirtha Kidambi’s Elder Ones, Jaffe is highly in-demand in New York’s multi-faceted music scene. He has had the pleasure of working with Chrome Sparks, Cass McCombs, Delicate Steve, David Wax Museum, Rubblebucket, Zubin Hensler/Twig Twig, Leverage Models, Ava Mendoza, Peter Evans, Tim Dahl, Joel Ross, Steven Lugerner, and many others.
Mason Self is an experimental artist blurring the lines between drums and synthesizers. Using Sensory Percussion and a modular synth, Mason uses drumming expressivity to bring a fresh humanity into synth based beat-centric music.
